Frequently asked questions

Choosing glasses and your prescription

Do I need a prescription to order glasses?

For prescription lenses, yes: they are made to your prescription. You can choose and buy a frame without one and have the lenses fitted later. If you have no prescription, book an eye exam at our stores with a doctor (Dimo, Eminescu, Decebal): 45 minutes, 20 parameters, and you leave with a prescription for glasses or contact lenses.

Where can I get an eye exam and how much does it cost?

A full eye exam takes 45 minutes, checks 20 parameters and costs from 400 MDL. It includes visual acuity testing, autorefractometry, intraocular pressure measurement, biomicroscopy, fundus examination, correction selection and an ophthalmologist consultation. The doctor sees patients at three stores: N. Dimo 1/1, M. Eminescu 48 and Decebal 6. Children from birth. Booking: diagnostic.eurooptica.md.

How do I choose a frame online?

Filter the catalogue by shape, material, colour and brand, then see how a frame looks on you with the AI try-on on your photo (the “AI try-on” page, sign-in by SMS). Reserve the frame you like in the store of your choice for free: we hold it for 3 days with no obligation so you can try it on in person. The catalogue has over 3,000 frames from 70+ brands.

Can I reserve a frame in a store?

Yes. On the product page click “Reserve in store”, choose the store and leave your phone number; we confirm by SMS. The frame waits for you for 3 days with no prepayment and no obligation to buy. Come in, try it on and, if you like it, standard lenses are fitted on the spot within an hour.

Lenses for glasses

How much do lenses for glasses cost?

Standard lenses (index 1.5–1.56) from 400 MDL per pair, thin lenses (index 1.6) from 990 MDL, progressive lenses from 4,990 MDL. Fitting into the frame is included. We work with Rodenstock and LTL; the final price depends on your prescription, coatings and lens design. Details on the “Lenses for glasses” page.

Which lenses should I choose for screen work, driving or reading?

It depends on where you wear your glasses most. We offer solutions for eight scenarios: screen work, driving, reading, sport, myopia, progressive, individual and prescription sun lenses. The optometrist recommends the right option after your eye exam, taking into account your prescription and the frame you chose. Each type is described on the “Lenses for glasses” page.

How are thin lenses different from standard ones?

With strong prescriptions a standard lens ends up thick at the edge and makes glasses heavy. Higher-index lenses (1.6 and above) are thinner and lighter for the same prescription and look better in slim or rimless frames. Rodenstock thin lenses do not visually magnify your eyes. Price from 990 MDL per pair.

What are progressive lenses and who are they for?

A progressive lens combines distance, intermediate and near vision in one lens, without the visible line of bifocals. It is the answer when, usually after 40, you need glasses for both reading and distance. Ordinary progressives have a narrow corridor of clear vision; Rodenstock lenses have wide fields and are easier to adapt to. Price from 4,990 MDL.

Making your glasses and lead times

How long does it take to make my glasses?

Standard Rodenstock and LTL lenses are fitted on site in our own in-store workshop, usually within an hour. Complex lenses (progressive, high-index, individual) are made to order in 3–10 days; we text you when your glasses are ready.

Is lens fitting charged separately?

No. Fitting the lenses into the frame is included in the lens price and is done by Eurooptica’s own in-store workshop. And if the glasses were bought from us, later care is free too: ultrasonic cleaning, frame adjustment, replacement of nose pads and screws, twice a year as part of the “glasses spa”.

What is the “glasses spa”?

Free care for glasses bought at Eurooptica: ultrasonic cleaning, frame adjustment, replacement of nose pads and screws. No appointment needed, at any of our 5 stores, takes 10–15 minutes and is free twice a year for any glasses bought from us.

Contact lenses

How do I order contact lenses online?

On the lens page enter, for each eye, the power from your prescription (for toric lenses also the cylinder and axis) and the number of boxes. Right and left eye parameters can differ. The power is required for each eye you order; we never pre-fill or guess it. Pay on receipt: store pickup or courier in Chișinău.

Do I need a prescription for contact lenses?

Yes: contact lenses have a power, base curve and diameter, and these are determined at a consultation. If you are new to contact lenses or want to change type, book a consultation: call +373 67 24 00 00 or leave a request on the “Contacts” page. The doctor sees patients at the Dimo, Eminescu and Decebal stores.

Can I sleep in contact lenses?

Not in hydrogel lenses: they are worn 8–12 hours a day and must be removed at night. Silicone-hydrogel lenses have high oxygen permeability and some models allow overnight wear, but only if your doctor has recommended that mode. Respect the replacement schedule on the box and never overwear your lenses.

Ordering, delivery and payment

How can I pay for my order?

Cash or card on receipt: in store at pickup, or to the courier. Online card payment is not available yet, so you pay nothing when placing the order. All prices are in Moldovan lei (MDL) and include VAT.

How much is delivery in Chișinău?

Courier delivery in Chișinău costs 50 MDL and is free for orders from 500 MDL. We deliver the same day or the next working day; the courier comes on working days between 11:00 and 15:00, and the manager confirms the exact time by phone. Pay the courier in cash or by card.

Do you deliver elsewhere in Moldova?

Yes, by post, in 2–4 working days at postal rates. This option is not yet selectable in the cart: place the order with store pickup or call +373 67 24 00 00 and the manager will arrange shipping and confirm the cost.

How does store pickup work?

Store pickup is free. At checkout choose one of our 5 stores in Chișinău; when the order arrives there, you get a text. It waits for you for 3 days. Pay at pickup, cash or card, and if you ordered lenses for glasses, we fit them into the frame on the spot.

What happens after I place an order?

Your order gets a number and reaches our managers immediately. During working hours (Mon–Fri 9:00–18:00, Sat 9:00–14:00) the manager calls to confirm the items, delivery or pickup and, if needed, your lens parameters. Orders placed in the evening or on Sunday are processed on the next working day.

Do I need an account to order?

No. A name and phone number are enough to order. The account (sign-in by SMS code, no password) is optional: it shows your order history, keeps your vision parameters with your consent and lets you order for family members. An account is required only for the AI frame try-on.

AI try-on and our stores

How does the AI frame try-on work?

Sign in to the “AI try-on” page with your phone number (SMS code), upload a front-facing photo and pick frames to see how they look on you. The photo is processed by Google Gemini only to generate the image; we do not store it on our servers and the result stays in your browser. Frames you like can be reserved in store in one click.
